Brenda's experience in remote Indigenous communities in Labrador and Nunavut, her education and her years of counselling, provide decades of practical responses in areas of domestic violence, child welfare, mental health and addictions, with a high emphasis on community consultation. These front line experiences have helped shape Brenda's passion for influencing social work service delivery in the context and principle of cultural meaning.
These masters level skills have evolved to help to meet community, regional and provincial health care mandates that are Indigenous specific and prevention focused. In October 2018, she launched a 12-week anger management program that supported the principles of trauma informed care in an adult residential addictions treatment program.
